Santiago Tamayo Soler (he/him) is a Colombian-Canadian artist based in Montréal, primarily working in video. With a background in performance art and film, he holds a BFA in Studio Arts from Concordia University.

Santiago’s practice centers on world-building, crafting digitally constructed universes that intertwine with archival elements such as video, photography, and online-found images. Through these virtual environments, he explores Latin American identity from a diasporic perspective, often drawing on the visual language of familiar formats like video games, telenovelas, and digital cartography. These formats serve as narrative devices, unfolding stories that envision a future steeped in radical fantasy.

Santiago is one of the recipients of the 2023 EDAA Emerging Digital Artists Award presented by EQ Bank and Trinity Square Video. In 2024, Santiago was announced as one of the laureates of the MNBAQ Contemporary Art Award 2025, with an accompanying exhibition at the MNBAQ that opened in February 2025.

Santiago has participated in residencies at Virreina, COL. (2026), the Montréal Fine Arts Museum (2024), Dazibao (2022), and the PHI Foundation (2021). Santiago is currently in residency at the Fonderie Darling (2026-2029).
